For a fashionable client, the purchase of a 2200sf space spawned a dream of living amidst glamorous décor with her sports-loving husband and two active sons.
Detail layers of moldings, antique mirrors, and Italian glass fixtures were added to heighten the formality of the foyer. A tufted kitchen banquette was created to accommodate family meals, while the original island was bolstered by infill cabinetry. A wall of millwork for the boys’ room efficiently consolidated dual desks, a TV and extra storage.
To meld high style with serious functionality, we surrounded a new ventless fireplace in marble, then flanked either side with furniture-inspired, custom brass-wrapped cabinets. While one side is fully fitted for storage, the other holds a hidden bar with retracting doors and a glamorous lacquer interior. We transformed the third bedroom into a cozy library covered in dark oak cabinetry, gracefully incorporating a concealed computer desk and an 85” television.
In this family home, careful planning and clever details allow functionality to thrive in style.
