Cherished clients from the city sought our help in comprehensive planning to upgrade their 2nd home purchase. Situated high in the Catskills with expansive views, we were challenged with elevating the voluminous home and property to match the grandeur of the location.
Our team immersed in an on-site design charette to re-envision how the home engaged the site and views. We proposed functional embellishments to enlarge the deck and screened porch, add a full outdoor kitchen and bar, create an outdoor shower, and formalize the fire pit. We suggested stone foundations, magnified porch columns, and consolidated roof lines to add to the robustness of the primary structure.
We implemented a series of stone garden walls and stair passages to connect the various elements of the site, mapping heights and locations both experientially and in formal plans. By relocating the hot tub from the deck to the yard and sinking it into the earth, the tub experience is animated by the full night sky and views without obstructing the panorama from within the house.
Orchestrated primarily through remote directives to the client and contractor, this property evolved into the ultimate location for weekend entertaining.
