A CITY HOME IS MADE PERSONAL FOR AN AVID WINE COLLECTOR.
Situated in an early luxury conversion Tribeca loft building, this 2300sf property became a passion project for the owner.
To maximize storage and useability while keeping the apartment refined and uncluttered, we employed numerous blind and pocket doors, and inserted extensive custom millwork. An elegant home office / guest room was created using a hot-rolled steel and glass wall and a dramatic retracting curtain. Design interventions were introduced at a large scale to expand the visual perception of the space, while existing loft details were highlighted for character.
A fully custom, temperature controlled, frameless glass wine storage wall required over-floor structural reinforcing to support 750 bottles from the owner’s collection. Individual room mechanical units were removed, and the chilled water redirected to cool a central air system. We streamlined the ceiling details and compositions and created knife edge pockets to allow multiple instances of hidden architectural accent lighting.
Boasting a contemporary masculine material and color palette, this downtown loft was refined into an enviable gentleman’s home.
